Week 18
Oh man, what a week we had last week. After a shy first day of pre-order on Tuesday, I blamed it on people sleeping in on Kingsday. But after seeing the line getting bigger and bigger outside of the shop, selling out in 3 hours the amounts I had planned to sell for the day, I realised you were actually more than ready to kick off the celebration, and we underestimated the day. I also just did not put all the items on the webshop. My bad.
Our friend Naomi from Mimi Kimchi came in town from Paris, so we decided to collaborate on a savoury croissant stick made with both of our Savoir-faire for this past Saturday. Who could have expected that you guys loved kimchi that much ?! It definitely inspired us to dig a bit deeper about how to offer more savoury options, the grammes way. So stay tuned...
Today, we are paying a visit to Lindenhoff, a provider that we are trying out for fruits and vegetables. We are excited to see how they work, and how they select their partners. The Lambada strawberries you got to try last week were delivered from them (remember when I was talking about greenhouse products hehe).
This week, to fight off the lovely forecast coming up, I wanted to tackle a Dutch classic, that I have actually never tried before : De Rijstevlaai. I do have a sweet spot for rice pudding, since my great-grand mother was a queen at making it, I want to offer a version of that iconic dessert from the South of the Netherlands, and how I would like it to be. A tart shell, filled up with a small frangipane, a lot of vanilla in the milk for the rice and a soft caramel infused with a tiny little hint of coffee.
Have a nice week, stay dry, and see you tomorrow or Saturday !
