Week 27

Last week before summer break.

Yes, you read that right ! No newsletters for the next 2 weeks !
"Finally" as some would say. It also means that from July 10th, no more grammes treats until July 27th. We will just offer the regular range of products, and maybe a small tart like the cherry and pistachio one that was available on the counter Saturday (last minute decision). The goal is to be able to produce just enough for this week, and not have many preparations left in our fridges/freezers while we are away.
Emile (our sourdough starter) will tag along with us on holiday, so we are sure he will not lose its power and keep delivering fluffy brioches once we return.

Last Sunday, we organized our first staff outing to celebrate the end of the first half of the year. We started the afternoon with an escape room. It was the first time for most of us, but we managed to solve all the puzzles and exit the room with a bit less than 15min left on the clock.
We then headed to De Nada, our favorite wine bar in Zuid, where the team took good care of us with food and different beverages.
We learnt a bit more about each others, which sometimes can be a bit challenging if we only meet in a work environment, like at the shop.
There will definitely be more of these in the future.
We are still looking for people to complete our team for both front and back of house (experienced and dutch speaking are a must), ready to start from August/September, do not hesitate to share around you.

We had the (sad but expected) news that the delivery of the counter would be delayed by 2 weeks. We sort of planned our summer break in order to be closed but present on week 29 for them to install everything. Unfortunately, we will most likely will have to close most of week 31 now as well. We are still trying to figure out if some of the work can be installed on week 29, in order to only close 2 days in August, but it is not looking so good at the moment.
Oh well, that construction life, right ? Delays for days.
Let's just hope and aim that everything is settled for September 1st.
(crossing all fingers)

I wanted to thank again the lovely neighbors from Jonker who sold our croissants and pains choc at Zomer Aan De Maas.
I am always amazed by the amount of people in the Maasstraat anytime something is organized.
We will keep you up to date with the next ones

We hope to see you guys at least one last time this week, so we can wish you good vacations, we will miss you !

NB : the shop will be closed in July, from the 10th till the 26th.
